Background

In developing its own publishing model, PLC has had to wrestle with many of the same knowledge management issues facing law firms and legal departments. The creation, publication, maintenance, organization and searching of legal resources are central to our business.

This informal workshop will be an opportunity to work through current thinking and experiences with peers from other firms and Directors of PLC. Each session will start with a brief presentation from PLC, setting out the key issues. There will then follow an open session with delegates contributing and raising questions.

Session 1: Setting knowledge management priorities

What are the key elements of a knowledge management strategy and how should they be prioritised?

Session 2: Technology framework

Identifying the key technical building blocks, including searching, taxonomies and achieving integration with external sources. PLC will demonstrate its own internal application to show how we tackle document management alongside KM and publishing within a single system.

Session 3: Obstacles and headaches

What are the main difficulties knowledge managers are currently facing and how are they best overcome?

This workshop is now FULL. If you are interested in attending similar workshops in the future, please email Guy.Baring@practicallaw.com
