Personal data in Russia: the new localisation law | Practical Law

There is a trend in some countries to restrict the processing of personal data to their own territory. This concept is known as localisation and Russia is the latest jurisdiction to introduce it. According to the new law, Russian and foreign companies that collect personal data of Russian nationals, including data collected over the internet, are required to maintain databases that store and process that personal data in Russia.
