Adjudication.

A type of alternative dispute resolution. A procedure that provides for the adjudicator’s decision to be temporarily binding, that is, it is binding on the parties until the dispute is finally determined by court proceedings, arbitration or settlement. It is best known in the construction industry, where the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 introduced a statutory right for parties to a construction contract to refer a dispute to adjudication.
