Qualified: 1981 Degree: Mr Martinez de Hoz graduated from the Argentine Catholic University in 1980 and received several awards as the top graduate of the class. He also obtained a Master of Comparative Law at the University of Illinois in 1982 with maximum grades in all courses. Areas of practice: Jose A Martinez de Hoz, Jr. is one of the founding partners of Perez Alati Grondona Benites Arntsen & Martinez de Hoz, one of the leading law firms in Argentina, and directs the Energy Department of the firm. He is actively involved in the fields of oil and gas, acquisitions of energy companies and project finance, which are some of the principal areas of expertise of the firm. Mr Martinez de Hoz represented some of the members of the winning consortiums in the privatisation of Gas del Estate, the former National Gas Company. In the area of oil and gas, Mr Martinez de Hoz has participated in the largest transactions, contract negotiations and acquisitions that have taken place in Argentina representing several of the major international oil and gas companies and financial institutions. He also advises these clients and other companies on a regular basis on regulatory and contract matters and acts as legal adviser of the two Chambers of the Oil Industry in Argentina in relation to the new Hydrocarbons Law being discussed at Congress and other regulatory matters.
